APPLICATION

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Students must be continuously enrolled in a school band or orchestra program.

All standard band instrument positions (including string bass and piano) are open for audition each season. CYWE accepts highly qualified students to fill a set instrumentation.

Students must audition in person. Time for auditions will be determined by receipt of the audition application form included in this brochure. An audition fee of $10.00 in the form of cash or check should be sent with the application form or can be paid at the time of the audition. Make checks payable to UNC Charlotte Dept. of Music.

Audition literature maybe the current year's All-State solo requirement for the student's grade level, or any solo of the student's choosing, plus scales (or rudiments) and sight-reading. The solo need not be memorized and should be performed without accompaniment. Percussionists will need to bring their own sticks and mallets. Notification of the results of the audition will occur by mail approximately two weeks after the auditions.

MEMBERSHIP FEE

Upon receipt of notification that you are accepted as a member of CYWE, you will receive a rehearsal schedule and a contract for membership, which you and your parents will sign and return to CYWE when you attend the first rehearsal.

The fee for membership is $80 for the season, payable by check, money order or cash by the 1st Tuesday rehearsal date (January 5, 2010). Please have the exact amount if paying in cash. This fee is for rental of concert facilities, music, staff expenses, printing, and other related costs. Make checks payable to UNC Charlotte Dept. of Music.
